Presenting the winner's film from VFFC 2016.
Alan Mahirma Lars, a Yogyakarta-based visual artist collaborated with designer Auguste Soesastro and his label KRATON creating a mystical fashion film that borrows its concept from the local Javanese folklore and the current social and ecological issues. The word 'Sumurup' in Javanese means the transition from day to night, which sets the story about how the society is dependent on natural resources, yet also facing new problems such as rapid urbanization and waste production... hence the longing for the arrival of Dewi Sri, the goddess of fertility to restore balance to the broken land.
